Raceways Moreton Morrell School's Out

Hello Everyone,

On Saturday 10th August Raceways Events hosted the annual School’s Out 10km & 20km road races at Moreton Morrell in Warwickshire. At 10am just under 200 runners took to the roads to enjoy the rolling course.

The 10km runners rush past the spectacular Moreton Hall

It was a lovely morning with the sun peeking out from behind the clouds and very little breeze creating perfect conditions for a good race. The scenic challenging course was well received, with many runners relishing the battle with the final climb at 9km.

Personalised mementos for each runner

10km race.

The Kids Fun Run kicked off just before the main events with over 30 kids taking part it was our busiest Fun Run to date! The children thoroughly enjoyed the goody bags which we complete with sports masks from Mask Arade, music lessons from Gail Bater and toys from Stone the Crows - all kindly donated in aid of Kids Run Free

All runners completed the course posting some excellent times and the finishers got to enjoy some delicious Eat Natural bars, fruit from Wild and Free and personalised mementos. A special mention must go to our 20km winner Rob Forbes who completed the whole course with son Heath Forbes in a pushchair!

Annual Festival 2013

Hi everyone!

The hard work paid off once again and last weekend we celebrated our second Kids Run Free Annual Festival. With hundreds of attendees, Kids Run Free races, bouncy castles, colour mazes, ball pits, wellie wanging, cake sales, strawberries, festival food, raffle prizes, dancing, bike courses, penalty shoot-outs, music and much, much more it was certainly an enjoyable day.

In the midst of a heat wave, the weather granted us a little relief with sunny spells, cooler temperatures and a light breeze – perfect conditions for running! As the crowds flooded in, Nigel cranked up the summer songs and the festivities began.

With the help of our valued volunteers, race directors Martine, Steve and Larissa kicked off the races with fun warm-ups to get the young runners bursting with energy and ready to race.

In between all of the running, our festival-goers could explore the many stalls and attractions put on by our sponsors, local businesses and members of the Kids Run Free team. Alongside the bouncy slide and giant inflatable colour maze, children could weave their way through the bike course on the strider balance bikes donated by Learning Early. Tumble Tots also came along with their wonderful play apparatus for the younger children and the talented girls from Step By Step Dance School treated spectators to some brilliant dances and cheer routines! Sixth moon art provided face painting and Junior Junction joined us to style the kids’ hair ready for their action-shot, photographed by our professional photographer for the day, Mike Adams.

Many more festival treats and amusements were provided by members of the Kids Run Free team including wellie wanging, penalty shoot-outs, Jo and Carmen’s cake sale for their charity sky dive (which they’re bravely doing to raise money for Kids Run Free!) and Fiona’s strawberry stall, all proceeds of which were donated to Kids Run Free.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the festival the success it was. We hope you all enjoyed the day and we look forward to the same enthusiasm at next year’s event.

Remember that our Kids Run Free events continue to run throughout the summer holidays on the first Saturday of each month so please do come along.

Many thanks

The Kids Run Free Team
