Kids Run Free Launches in Northampton

On Saturday 5th April, over 30 children and their parents enjoyed the benefits of a Kids Run Free event for the first time at Northampton’s Racecourse Park. Just like a typical Kids Run Free event, there were a variety of races available to kids of 0-16. Races started at 09:00am and kids, Mums and Dads (let’s not forget our devoted volunteers as well) got fully involved in the fantastic atmosphere of the event.

To mark the significant new presence of Kids Run Free in Northampton, the Mayor Les Mariott and his wife Lisa came out to inspire everyone with his support. Here he is with Kids Run Free’s office manager Carmen Old.

Just as inspiring to our young Racecourse runners was Joey the Kangaroo. Here is Joey inspiring kids to go forth and – er – run. Really fast!

And here he is, supervising their warm up.

Finally, here are the Lord Mayor, Joey, and Northampton Councillor Brandon Eldred standing together on The Racecourse.

This event is just the start of a new Northampton initiative which, in step with Kids Run Free’s mission statement, will allow more children in Northampton to realise their potential through running. Kids Run Free is grateful to the Co-operative Community for funding and to Northamptonshire Sport for sponsorship.

Yours Dashingly, Dash
